Does anyone dive Marble Falls? From the bridge it looks like it might offer better viz than Travis.

No, I have not dove there, but I know Inks Lake is supposed to be good diving, and it's close to there. I plan on diving Inks lake before the beginning of summer, I'll check out MF too n let ya know how they are.

I've dove Inks a couple of times officially and it was strictly braille diving. That was summer/fall though, when it's kinda green. In the winter, I've seen it to be 4-8 ft vis from the "warm" safety of the dock - - but I think that's as good as it gets.

I'm sort of presuming that Marble Falls is pretty much the same story as it's just a few miles downstream.

Some folks say that 4-8 feet is bad Vis....

Question : Can you read you precious computer monitor from 8 feet ???

Answer Yes ? Then whats wrong with 8 feet in a lake ?

Answer No ? Then why are you worried about Vis. you can't see anyway !

I've been planning on checking out Inks Lake one of these days. I just thought I'd see if anyone was familiar with MF.

psiborg, let me know when your going to be down here. PM me and I'll try to meet you at either one.

Will do man! it'll probably be near the end of April or the beginning of may, something like that.

4 feet is bad vis? Hell, according to NAUI, 90% of my dives have been limited visibility. I think that it's good to dive low vis, it get's you more comfortable with your gear and makes you trust your gauges.

and if I could find 8 feet in a lake around here, i'd run out there like my haiur was on fire!

Definition...
"Good Vis"--any visibility that does not require partners to be tethered.

at least that's what my book says.

I have a place on LBJ and have been to Lake Marble Falls several times. Ive always wanted to dive them but never tried. I have snorkeled LBJ once trying out some of my new gear and viz was maybe 2ft. where is was.
