We were diving out of Lexington last Tuesday and a couple of things occured that I thought my fellow Great Lakes Divers might find interesting: Our first dive was the Mary Alice B. The interesting part was the water temp was 64 degrees all the way down to about 80 feet. Unfortunately the viz was around 10-15 ft. We went over to the Regina for the second dive. About 10 minutes after we moored to the wreck we saw a freighter coming toward us (there seemed to be lots of them heading up-bound). He came about 50 yards away (even though I had the alpha flag clearly above the boat and dive flag in the water) and called on a megaphone to turn my radio to ch 06 which I did and he preceded to tell me that I was in the shipping lane and other ships had been reporting that an unattended boat was there and he had reported us to the Canadian Coast Guard? I informed him that we had arrived there only 10 minutes prior and that there was another boat there before us. Anyway we did the dive and this time there wasn't any thermocline but the viz was 10 ft. max! I was glad that I know this wreck pretty good because it would have been very easy to not find the mooring line back up. Another boat of divers came out as we were getting ready to enter and I think they must have gotten "lost" because they popped-up between the two mooring lines (about mid ship).
