I met Jim yesterday morning at Kylami. It was as good as everyone has been saying. The crew was extremely helpful and friendly. The boat is clean, well laid out with plenty of room to move around. I felt very well taken care of. I also liked the fact that one of the DM's is a middle-aged mom like me. Marathon running aside, I'm not a spry young monkey any more. There is a comfort level in knowing the person helping you up the ladder *gets* how hard that climb can be - especially after a second dive. Older divers will feel very safe on this boat, as will the less experienced.
The first site we did was Scarface. We saw two nurse sharks, one reef, one lone loggerhead and then two together, a very friendly hawksbill that let us take as many pictures as we wanted before he headed up for air, a couple moray eels, a HUGE stingray plus the regular cast of colorful reef fish. Seas a gentle 2-3 ft, with slight north current, viz about 60 ft, water temp in the high 70's.
We went south to Spade fish Point for the second dive. The seas had laid down even more but viz had gone to pot - it was like a blizzard it was so full of particulate. Not much to note as far as critters. Water temp was cooler on the bottom, 75 degrees, and warmer on top: 79. Which I guess means the warmer water is flushing out the cooler which should set you up for fantastic conditions this weekend.
Here are a couple pics taken with my Sony RX100. This is only the second time I have taken it beyond shore-diving depths. No external strobe. I'm really happy with the quality and color.
