Girlfriend and I are both basic open water certified divers who will likely be AOW certified by the time of this trip (End of June). We will be visiting for around 7-8 days and after a lot of research will likely split the time between Tulum (for cenote diving) and Cozumel (reef diving). Anyone have any good recommendations for places to stay or dive shops to book through?

Thanks

In Cozumel I’ve been very happy with ScubaClub, nice shore site, good food, great employees, and I can walk around everywhere in a wetsuit.

I highly recommend Nicolas from CenoteXperience - Cavern, Cave and Ocean Diving in Playa del Carmen Yucatan Mexico - Home I have been diving with Nico and martin for over 7 years. They are great guys and excellent dive guides. They have a small family run dive shop in Playa. Tell Nico that Steve from Canada sent you.

Another vote for CenoteXperience. I've used them twice and both times they were excellent. Not sure whether they can help someone coming from Tulum though, unless OP can meet them at a site.

For Cozumel, I love Tres Pelicanos.

For Cozumel, I don't know of any bad dive ops. But the three I see people raving about most are:

Blue XT Sea
Tres Pelicanos
Aldora

I also see Dive With Martin mentioned a lot too, so make that the four most often mentioned

I've gone with Blue XT Sea and they are top notch. The others I don't have personal experience with.

My husband and I own a little bed and breakfast business that caters specifically to cave divers, but we welcome recreational divers with open arms! We are located between Playa and Tulum, and offer packages covering accommodation, meals, transport to and from the cenotes, a well-equipped and safety-minded guide, and tank rental. Check us out at www.xoc-ha.com .
