Small group considering doing 6 or 7 nights in St. Croix / diving 2x a day. Travelling from NY.

Can anyone offer up some suggestions.....

- Accomodations?
- Preferred / reputable dive operator?
- Best / must see dive sites to visit?
- Who to deal with who can put togther complete package for us with accomodations & diving?

Thanks in advance!

I prefer staying in Christiansted, didn't care for Fredricksted, myself.

YMMV

I dove with Anchor a few years ago. Very pleased with the service. There are some nice condo's (Gentle Winds) close to Anchor. If you are more resort oriented then Carambola might be the place to stay.

When everyone raved about the cruise ship pier in Fredricksted being the best dive, I was more than a little apprehensive about the diving i would find in St Croix.

The muck under that pier was phenomenal. I have dived it 5 times, as much as I could cram into my visit.

The diving on the North side, Western end is likely the best the island offers.

To allow for diving under rougher weather, they sank some "wrecks" on the West side (North end) that are fairly deep, sometimes with a good current, and for my three dives on that specific area, not worth returning for.

I have also been looking into St. Croix for my next dive vacation. I am having a hard time convincing our friends to consider St. Croix for our next dive trip. They are concerned about the crime on the island. I have been to Roatan, Cozumel and Curacao; is St. Croix really any more dangerous than any of those places?

The crime on St Croix is a non-issue. I have lived here almost 3 years, and never had any problems. Go check our website, stcroixscuba.com. Tons of information on the island in general, and our shop. We also have travel packages with flights from almost every major city in the USA

Not diving, but we did snorkel Buck Island and truly enjoyed ourselves.

Can anybody tell me how the diving in St. Croix is different than other places in the Caribbean? Been to Cozumel, Roatan, and Curacao. I especially enjoy the freedom of shore diving. Any comparisons out there? Thanks in advance:)
