Fair do's Ken, I hadn't realised the OP was so inexperienced - should have read their details a bit more.

I'm not local to Scotland, we do travel up occasionally, but mainly for boat based trips.

From memory, Oban has some nice simple dives, I think Puffin divers are in that area. Also, the other coast - St Abb's is reasonably straight forward shore diving - if you don't mind the walk.

Shame they are not a bit more experienced. Some truly world class diving both Scenic and Wreck off the Scottish coast.

I'll be heading to Oban in September.

Puffin divers can do a DS course in two days I think, nice and simple off the slipway.

Scottish west coast diving is great, it's been 7 years since my last dives there and I can't wait to get back this time with my own drysuit and not a leaky rental.
