My husband has a business trip the last week of October 2010 and I'm thinking about tagging along so we can dive San Diego for a day or two.

What are the suggestions for dive operators and hotels?

Appreciate any feedback....thanks.

That would depend on your budget as far as hotels are concerned. You can find places for less than 100 per night all the way up to thousands per night. If your husband is on a business trip do they pay for the hotel? If you tell me what hotel you will be in I can direct you to the closest diving. There are a few dive boats out here. Most locals use their own boat or a friends so I am not the best person to answer the dive boat question; however I can put you in contact with people who do use them. Do you want to dive from boat or shore? Diving off of San Diego is ok, not great, just ok. The vis can be anywhere from 1-15 feet depending upon where you go. I think a better option would be a quick trip out to Catalina for a day but I don't know your schedule. Will you be renting gear or bringing your own?

I like staying at The Dana and diving with Waterhorse Charters (the Humboldt) right across the street.

I stay at the Hyatt and walk to diving with Marissa, Waterhorse, or Lois Ann. This is a great place to stay with a variety of very good dive operations. All three have shedules to allow you to choose your itinerary.

Good diving, Craig
