scubabrandon:
Just wondering if anyone has a list of good places with good visibility to dive in the Nashville area.

Hello Brandon:

Good vis in our area can be a bit of an oxymoron (depending on what your definition of good vis is). I'm from East TN and we usually dive Martha's Quarry in Lebanon, TN. Also there is an aquatic park in North Alabama as well as PennyRoyal just across the KY line up 65. In East TN there's Loch-Lowe-Minn Quarry which probably has the best vis (usually about 20' or more).

Hope this helps.

Mike

MY01SHADOW pretty much covered the best local options. Pennyroyal's a longer drive, but has the best "local" vis, while Martha's is the most convenient to Nashville. As always, it depends on how many OW classes have been there ahead of you.

Martha's should reopen in April, just a week before the Nashville DIR-Fundamentals class is scheduled to take place there. Pennyroyal should be open now, if I'm not mistaken (and I may be).

This should help some with the Nashville and North Alabama quarry.

You'll also find Cerulean near Cadiz KY about an hour and a half north. Just off I-24. I think I read that their website www.divecerulean.com was down. Shallow quarry that really warms up in the summer.

As a reminder, Martha's should reopen in less than ten days, ie the first weekend in April.
