Diving in Miami in Sept.

I am going to visit family in Miami in Sept. and I want to know where I should dive. My fiancé is going to be wedding dress shopping with her grandmother so I have a free Friday to dive. Please let me know of any where you think I should go. I am open to a boat or shore dive.

There is a decent shore dive off south beach, there are a few buoys out there past the swim buoy, or there is lauderdale by the sea up by commercial BLVD, but thats about 30-40 min drive from miami. Weather has been other than favorable lately so water has been real murky. Enjoy!

Go north! Boats and beach in Broward. If by beach, make sure you have a flag.

Pompano is a bit of a drive from Miami but there are several operators I've used: South Florida Dive Headquarters, Pompano Dive Ctr. and Scubatyme. The shallow reefs are very pretty in the area and the wrecks are all nice.

I've never been out with this operator, but RJ Dive Ventures is located in Miami. I might be just spreading internet urban myths, but I've also heard that Miami visibility tends to be worse than Broward. Can't confirm since I've never dove in Dade County.

Another good shore dive site south of Lauderdale by the Sea is in Dania Beach, which is about 20 miles north of downtown Miami.

Another option is to go to Key Largo for the day.... lots of good operators. My favorites are Conch Republic Divers and Silent World

I dived several times with Tarpoon Dive Center (Tarpoon Dive Center - Miami Beach SCUBA Diving). They are located in South Beach Marina.
They use RJ Diving Ventures boat.
