Hello All - New to this sight and I am looking for help finding a dive outfit in Maui. We really do not want any of the big outfits. Looking for a boat that takes less than 20 divers.
Thanks

Have you searched
DiveBuddy.com
or
Scubadvisor.com

I found some great operations in CA, Cozumel, and Aruba there.

I just got back from Maui two days ago. I dove Molokini with Scuba Shack. Captain Charlie is really cool and his boat is super fast and you get to Molokini in 10 to 15 minutes instead of 45. Try to to a day in Lanai with Hawaiian Rafting Adventures. They are amazing and Lanai was insane!!

Prodiver out of Kiehi - 6 pac boat - really fun! Extended Horizons out of Lahaina for trips to Lanai.
Have Fun!

The three most recommended boat operators around here for Maui are Ed Robinson's, B&B, and Mike Severns, though Dive & Sea Maui gets good reviews as well. For shore diving it is always Shaka Doug as #1. All of these operators work out of the Kihei area, with the boats all departing from the Kihei boat ramp to Molokini and S. Maui sites.

My preferred operator is Ed Robinson's due to the fact that they offer advanced charters geared toward the more independent and advanced diver. You still get the amazing, personalized service on the boat from the crew, and the DM's provide leadership and critter spotting during the dive, but you are expected to be responsible for yourself at the same time. We've been diving with Ed Robinson's for over 5 years and have never been disappointed in the crew or service provided. AND we can't wait to return to dive with them next month! :D They also do a fantastic job with the less experienced diver and it was simply a joy to watch them work with my newly certified nephew earlier this year.

And just FYI, I would dive with Maui Dive Shop before I'd ever book a charter with Scuba Shack. This is completely due to the owner's policies and previous rants regarding his right to do whatever he wants on his boats. Just not my cup of tea.

I dove with Ed Robinsons and loved it!:D

I highly recommend Dive and Sea Maui. They take twelve max but I have never seen more than six on board their boat. They do not offer afternoon dives and this allows for a relaxing pace. Also, you can sleep-in just a little because their check-in isn't until 7:30.

I'd also suggest trying the scooter dives from Maui Dreams. Lots of fun!

Yeah, Maui Dreams folks are great, I was talking to them about this. They scooter out to the St. Andrews wreck off Keawakapu Beach. Sounds like a lot of fun!

I had a blast on that dive. There is a large resident frogfish there and I had a personal escort of 20-25 butterfly fish as we swam around it. Lots of good spots between the entry and exit points too. Try not to do it on Sunday though- the beach entry closest to it is closed to divers so you have to splash at Ulua. See if Dave is available as your guide- he has a lot of local knowledge.
