BigboyDan:
In the South and Southwest we wear jeans to almost all activities, at one time or another, including many weddings. People dive, usually shallow, in jeans all the time. I don't, though.

Not just in the south ... if I had to wear a pair of pants other than blue jeans for any reason I'd have to go out and buy them first.

But I wouldn't dive in them ...

black levi 34/34 inch 501's are DIR standard exposure protection for surface intervals..

(note to self: Must confirm this with Jonythan)

I have personally worn levis under my trilam when I forgot my drysuit undies. they were ok thermally, but pinched a little more than fiberpile.

My shorty 30" inseam legs are in trouble now.

Do they wait to Tech 1 to put you in traction and do leg extension?

captain:
Here in south Louisiana Levi's are common on spearfishing dives on the oil rigs. They keep your flesh from being shredded if you get dragged across a barnacle incrusted pipe by a large fish. They also are worn over wet suits to protect them.

Took the words right off of my screen! Bluejeans have their place in diving...but don't wear your brand new ones...get the cheap ones from the thrift store.

For more about what Captain was saying...read _Helldivers Rodeo_!

I have heard of divers wearing an old flannel shirt and jeans over their wetsuit when diving oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. That way their wetsuit doesn't get torn by the barnicles while chasing a fish while spearfishing or pushed into a leg by current.
