To all would-be Denizens of Cousteau's world: Who's the best all-around dive boat operator/shop in Key West?

What fits your definition of best? Do you want a big boat that is more stable or a smaller boat that has fewer folks? Do you want to be guided or do you want to dive your own profile? Do you want full service, or can you change your own cylinders/handle your own gear? Are you going to make a fuss when a full service boat charges you half again what a no frills boat costs you? What are you looking for, we have it all.

Went with Lost Reef in December because they were the only boat running. Had a good time diving the Vandy.

I've dove with Captain's Corner several times and had good experiences. I'm pretty self reliant while on a boat so have little need for any assistance while on the boat or getting my stuff from the car's trunk onto the boat. Its a big boat and very stable but can get crowded during busy times of the year. The only thing I don't like is their tank racks which are located in the middle of the deck rather than the perimeter which makes changing over your BC during the SI a bit of a pain, but the DM will help you if you need it.

I like the fact that they don't 'baby sit' divers and don't have strict guidelines regarding the length of the dives like some operators in Key West: when I've dove with the op, they told us when the boat would be heading back to the marina and let my buddy and I plan our dive time, depth, SI, etc. with no interference as long as we were back on board when they planned to head back to the dock and as long as we stayed out of deco.

Their prices are very reasonable, especially if you bring your own tanks and weights.

My buddies and I went with Captain's Corner the one time we dive KW and none of us would recommend them. The big tank rack in the middle was a big point of dissatisfaction. And while we are all very independent advanced divers, we found their staff to be completely uncaring and not even willing to help. It was a big friggin taxi with unfriendly staff, and overpriced for what they offer. They also have the longest waiver I've ever seen, but since that was developed for them by one if the guys I was diving with, I guess that's not their fault.
