Phil and I have been squeezing-in a dive here and there, trying to beat the weather. Vis is steadily improving in the South Bay, just in time for winter storms. The Redondo barge still hosts an occasional Mola mola being cleaned, but the Pacific Red Octopus nesting season is over.
We visited the nest of this two-spot octopus, Octopus bimaculoides, for 4 months. A week after these photos were taken, the eggs had all hatched.
Many tiny shrimp live there, too.
On the barge, we usually find the side-gill slug, Pleurobrancheae californica, hiding under rusty plates.
Snail chase.
Aeolidiella olivae with eggs
Facelina stearnsi from the Star of Scotland wreck.
From the Avalon wreck.
Moon over Veterans Park, Redondo Beach, and wishing we could do a night dive...
