Hello everyone!

So much information here! My husband and I have been living in Singapore for the last 18 months and discovered this great new thing called diving! ;) Wow - puts a completely different spin on a beach holiday and I am afraid that we are already spoiled with all of the great dive spots we have visited so far. For those of you who have diving experiences in Asia, where is your favorite dive spot and why?
So far we have been diving at the GBR, Maldives (going back again in Dec but this time on a liveaboard), Phuket (south during off season - choppy!), Pulau Aur-Malaysia, and Bali. Sipidan and Similan Islands are next on our wish list but always looking out for personal favorites from fellow divers.

Cheers!

Welcome to the board!

Hi, Tazzmeyer,

Welcome (late) to Singapore. it all depends on if you prefer the macros or the pelagics.

For macro, my top 3 favourite are:
1. Anilao, Philippines - lots of macros (nudibranches and funny looking macro - try night dive at "Basura"), easy to get there (fly to Manila and then get to the resort in a couple of hours) and relatively mild currents, warm waters, good viz.

2. Mabul/ Kapalai, Sabah, East Malaysia - a little tougher to get there compared to Anilao but has great macros especially Paradise I.

3. Lembih, Manado, Indonesia - muck diving, lots of strange looking creatures too. Relatively easy to get there. Also, mild/ no current and water is warm. Dive guides do everything for me - rig tanks up, etc!

I'm not big on pelagics but saw my first manta in Similans/ Surin, and Sipadan has all the white tips, turtles, leopard sharks, barracudas, jacks... that you want to see. One place that I would like to go is Tubbataha, Philippines for the Pelagics.

Welcome once again,
Cat.

Glad to have you with us...
