Goes to show you my inexperience...I didn't know those wrecks existed and I am in awe that y'all actually dive them! Maybe one day for me but for now I will stick to the recreational dives! Gee, considering the controversy I have seen between DIR & other divers (I am not DIR)....plus the fact that I am a newbie...maybe I should just meet y'all for drinks! ;-0

By the way WW, do you personally know people at Brownie's? After receiving my AOW and reading some of the post on the board, I was curious about DIR. I went to the GUE site to read up on DIR. I sent an e-mail asking for more info (which they gave me great links), local dive ops/classes. They gave me an e-mail address to Brownie's (more convenient for me) and a place up in the middle of the state. So before I bought my equipment, I tried to contact Brownie's via e-mail to ask a few questions about concepts, gear & training. I figured I would check all aspects of diving out before shelling out $$$ for gear. They pretty much blew me off in their responding e-mail by telling me to go to the GUE site if I had questions. :( Kind of turned me off to DIR. I haven't looked at it again which is a shame because I originally liked some of the concepts. Maybe I got someone on a bad day?

Opinions vary on wether O-Ring and I are DIR either, I only claim "mostly" :)

Yes, I know all the Brownie's people very well. I'm sorry you felt blown off, I'm certain it wasn't meant that way. Please keep in mind that they get most busy and email is generally not the best way to get detailed answers. If you walk into the store you'll find them friendly and more than willing to spend time with you.

Does this mean you won't dive with me...or I won't dive with you?

We should do some dives...it doesn't matter if you are DIR or not, I will dive with anybody (especially anybody that looks like you :tease: ).

Yea, same here. I don't use DIR as a basis for wether of not I'll dive with someone. I dive with lots of folks, from GUE instructors to totally non-DIR divers. Unless I feel that someone is unsafe, I don't care about the rest. Its my experience that most people feel this way.

Glad to know the two of you aren't "too good" to dive with me! Y'all can do the tech dives together and then I could meet y'all down south and we can do a couple of "recreational" dives.

Thank you but be careful of what you say because that picture was taken in 2002...I don't really look like that anymore. :embarr: But I still have the same smile! Plus I have a GREAT PERSONALITY :D Don't I Walter?

Thanks WW! I will go into their shop on my next trip down south. I probably got someone on a busy day.

Well if all else fails I'll let you dive with me. :D

I am definitely coming, but wanted to see what would work best for diving and who was going to be around. The conference is August 18-21, so should I come early and stay the first weekend (16th-17th) or stay late and dive the second weekend (23rd-24th)??

Should I do both? :D

The diving off Boca is some of the best in S FL.

The area between the inlets is hit hard and often, by running north from Boca inlet to about halfway between Boca and Boynton inlets you get near virgin reefs and awecsome drift dives.

That whole area was my "grocery store" when going to FAU about 30 years ago.

BTW the Hydro is an awesome dive! The Lowrance ain't half bad either.

Plan the deep stuff for the first weekend, then stay "shallow" the second so you can fly out without breathing off a green bottle for several hours.
