Diving in a t-shirt?

I was on a boat in Hawaii where people wore exposure suits that ranged from cut-offs and a t-shirt to double layered 7mm suits. If you are comfortable the whole dive a t-shirt is fine. If you are cold during or right after the dive then maybe you need to wear a little more. It doesn't matter what everyone else wears, it's about you not being cold. Diving cold sucks, and it also is a DCS risk.
 
Get a fitted rashguard, like a surf cut. When you’re underwater, it will stay fitted. No stingers can get under there, either. Long sleeve is better for sting and coral protection while also offering sun protection. They dry in hours and won’t stretch or get heavy. DaKine and Quiksilver as well as O’Neill makes great ones for this purpose.
