I use a long sleeve 2/1 O'neil shorty for the caribbean. I love it. May be a little softer. Who cares if it compresses faster if the price and fit are great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another surf suit for diving if the price was under $100 again. My wife uses a 2mm Billabong shorty for the warm water.
