Diving Guide to Curacao

I just returned to the US after diving in Curacao for the third year running. While I dive with the guys at Silent Immersion because of the relaxed atmosphere there and the coffee in the morning, I found a great diving guide in thier shop. The owner, Jamie explained to me it was written by two local divers. The guides to the dive sites are great and for about $30 it was a great investment. You can't miss it, it has the dive flag as its cover and lots of nice photos inside. It is written in Dutch and in English.

Hey bubble...right on the money about the book! I lived/dove in Curacao for over a year and didn't know about some of the diving locations listed in the guide. I've also been to Silent Immersion and both my wife and I had a great time at the shop and in the water

And would anyone know the name of the book? Going to Curacao for the first time in April and would love to get the guide ahead of time. Is it on Amazon?

The local book is Duikgids Diving Guide It's cowritten by Gustele who posts here quite often. It does not have an ISBN number so I wouldn't think you can get it from Amazon. Maybe they have a source of books in the states that can be shipped to you. Contact them thru | Onderwater in de West or caribbeandiving@hotmail.com If not, I believe they are at every dive shop. If you're in Westpunt, stop and borrow one of our copies. Jack Jackson has a book the Dive Sites of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao that you can find on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. But we think many that are listed as boat dives only can be done from shore.

Let me jump in. I am one of the two authors of the Curacao Diving Guide. The pictures in the book are from my hand. The text is written by the owner of the dive shop Trunkdivers.
Indeed this guide has no ISBN number and is currently for sale on Curacao only. Problem with international orders is that Paypal doesn't consider Curacao or the Netherlands Antilles as a grown-up country so, although I am able to pay and receive money through my paypal-account I am not able to withdraw funds from my account. The other obstacle is the mail to and from the States. Very often shipments get lost in transit. So unfortunately you have to wait till you are on the island to get one.


The guide is currently for sale at several dive shops:

• Trunkdivers (the owner is my co-author) near plantation house Daniel
• Dive Center Curacao at Martha Koosje (Road to Westpunt)
• Silent Immersion in the Eastern part of the island
• PortoMari Sports at the Porto Mari beach

To get a better impression of what the diving guide has to offer, you can check the link to a preview. The structure of the guide is as follows:
The guide starts with some general information; that is followed by 2 pages per dive site. On the left hand side the text (in English and Dutch), a drawing of the dive site and some icons giving additional information about the site; on the right hand side two pictures taken under water at that site. All dive sites are accessible from shore although some (especially the dive sites along the North coast) are very dependent on the circumstances.

As SpicedRumRunner said there are probably dive sites in the guide that you have never visited before.
