I am not at all familiar with Honduras and Bay Islands. Had planned on an all inclusive to Fantasy Island, but now it's sold out.

Just wondering if La Ceiba is close enough to all the diving to stay at?

It's on the mainland. There really is no diving from the mainland that you'd want to bother with.

FIBR sold out? (Sounds like Semana Santa... Holy Week!)

There are one or two other options.

For AI resorts, look at AKR as well. Smaller resorts are manyfold.

Don't give up. Or... consider Belize!

What about Henry Morgan Resort? There are still spots left for this resort, but I am not sure of the diving there.

Will also try Cocoview....but have to wait til tomorrow for the 1-800 line to open. I am on a last minute thing here, which is probably a big mistake.

Anyway, I've checked and there is still room for a flight down there, but I just have to find a reasonably priced place to stay and dive that offers unlimited shore dives (which I understand Cocoview is). Does anyopne know if the rate advertised in Cocview website is inclusive of meals and diving?

I'll check into AKR too.

Any other suggestion for a place that's around $800 - $1000 per person?

Belize sounds nice, but I am not sure if there are cheap flights from Toronto.

Cocoview rates are at CCV Rates. According to that page, they are inclusive of 3 meals per day and a few other goodies. If you are going before Apr 27th you would be in high season, I believe. RoatanMan is the resident expert on CCV, he probably can help you out a lot more than I can. For unlimited shore diving this is probably your best bet.

Hi Diver,

I am Tony from Pirate Islands Divers (PID) in La Ceiba Honduras. La Ceiba is an hour and a half away by ferry to Roatan, so I would not recommend staying in La Ceiba to dive in Roatan. If you find yourself in La Ceiba you can dive with us in the Cayos Cochinos Marine Park just off the coast of Honduras. Below is some additional information about us.

PID is a remote scuba diving safari service running trips from La Ceiba and Sambo Creek on the coast of Honduras to the Cayos Cochinos Marine Park. PID offers day trips or multi-day packages for snorkelers, divers, and explorers. PID also offers recreational PADI dive courses from beginner to master scuba diver as well as professional dive courses. Dive gear and transportation to Cayos is included in the prices, multi-day packages are available including accommodations and meals. PID is located at the beach front hotel Paradise Found (www.paradisefoundlaceiba.com) in Sambo Creek, just east of the Hotel Canadian on Playa Helen (Helens’ beach). Read the Trip Advisor reviews at the bottom of this page.

Offerings:
• Try Scuba Diving for the first time, with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience (1 day, Mon. - Thu. special $65)
• For snorkelers: Day trips to Cayos Cochinos ($45)
• For divers: Dive trips to Cayos Cochinos (2 tanks)
• PADI dive courses for beginners: Scuba Diver, Open Water Scuba Diver
• PADI dive courses for divers: Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver, Emergency First Responder, Rescue Diver
• PADI dive courses for Professional divers: Internships for Divemasters, Instructors and Assistant Instructors

PID also offers condo and villa rentals on and off the beach in Sambo Creeks premier residential community (Mango Tree Villas). For more information contact us at Info@PirateIslandsDivers.com, or visit our website www.PirateIslandsDivers.com or call us 504-3228-0009 or 504-9563-9172.

And of course, if you're happy without an AI you'll find plenty of dive and accommodation options on both Roatan and Utila. Just start asking dive centers what service they can provide for fun divers, what they can offer with accommodation, etc. Many centers can help with or provide accommodation, help with travel and connections, etc making it just as easy to dive more independently.
