hi guys

ill be in the us from nov 2 to 13 and i would like to get at least a dive during my short vacay.
ill be based in diamond bar and i think i want to see the seals of catalina island, although i wouldnt mind trying another place with seals and that large sea bass.
i wanna do daytrips only since ill be travelling on a budget.
i was wondering if i could contact any local dive club within the area so i could join them on a preferably weekday dive.
i am an AOW diver and have been diving for 15 years but have only logged 160 dives. i only dive tropical (im from the philippines) and this will be my first dive outside of my country. i plan on renting everything except my regulator, an AL legend, which i wanna test on temperate temps.
hopefully some of you can refer me to some dive clubs, or at least a dive shop that can get me to dive.
thanks in advance

I reccomend going to Catalina Island and diving in the dive park. Since you only have tropical diving experience I highly reccomend taking a guided tour with a professional guide. You can rent all the gear and get a guided dive from either Catalina Divers supply or Scuba Luv, the 2 main dive shops in Avalon, Catalina Island.

I also would recommend the above action. However, by November time, I don't know if the giant black seabasses will still be around. Seals are not too common to Catalina, if you're lucky you'd see one or two. Sea lions are more common but also no guarantee that they will come to you either.

Rent gears from ScubaLuv or Catalina Divers Supply. I'd say that you probably won't need professional guide services if you were to post on this forum as the date gets closer because chances are one of us can go play with you and give you a free tour guide.;)

Ditto on the dive park. Like fnfalman said, lets us know your dates and someone will surly allow you to join up with them. No guide is really necessary for the park anyway. There are several maps of the site and it's very easy to navigate.

OK, but don't call me Shirley! :rofl3:

my tentative date for the dive is nov 8 sunday
wanna join shirley... errr teamcasa
