There’s also wind and current to deal with. A friend had a small Zodiac with a 4.4 HP motor. It ran fine under perfect conditions. It’s perfect to get from the dock out to a boat at anchor.

We tried to take it into the ocean once and we couldn’t make it out against the incoming tide. It was weird to have the motor wide open, water rushing by, but making no forward progress against the shore.
If that had happened on the return trip, it wouldn’t have been quite as funny.
 
As long as you have an EPERB or a PLB you'll be fine. Hopefully they'll find you before you pass Bermuda :^)
 
Both I and @mac64 did show you examples of decent inflatable boats (not RIBs, these ones are with inflatable keel and are fully loadable in the trunk of your car, but still designed for a 20-30 HP outboard engine and capable of speeding fast over high waves, ensuring to be able to come back to shore, provided that the driver has the skillness required for controlling these fast and light boats):
