ok.. ive never done this before, ive read the laws a bit but i wana make sure that im not missing anything.

somone said when it rains its closed for 2 weeks? this only for steamers, of all clams, and does it apply to all state waters or only certan areas?

i know theres a limmit of 1/2 bushell so thats all cool, but i also herd that you have to have a 1" mesh bag..
this rule apply to me or only the commerical guys, and if it does apply to me...where do i get me one.

i nkow that the size limit is 1" so i have no questions there...

anything else?

and of corse, and hist to where and how?

TIA
Ray

They close the shellfish areas when it rains because the fecal coliform count tends to go up to unsafe levels. There's a number you can call on the RI DEM site that you can call to see what areas are open and closed right now and they can probably answer your question about the mesh bag. Also there is a map that shows the shellfish area classifications that you can download on thier site.

Cape ann dive shop in Gloucester did a scallop boat dive this past Thursday, I'd give them a ring and see how successful they were this year. My buddies and I did a scallop dive with them last year and made out like kings. We each filled a full size lobster squeeze bag to the brim with scallops. They were so fresh, and wrapped in bacon came out great. mmm bacon... Sid
