I found an old 2004 post saying diving at Casino Point is no problem during Jazz Fest weekends.

Still true these days?

We're planning on being there Saturday, Oct 10, for the day. Assume hotels not available if we were thinking of staying the night.

Have to check the ferry availability. Hoping no problems there.

Although they took out the back stage stairs - which is sad, as it was always great to set up there during JF and hear the bands all day while diving.

I went over with some bands last time I was there - it was great.

Get your rezzies secure and its all good.

No problem at all... I did night dives during the Blues Festival and last weekend during the first weekend of JazzTrax. Nice to have the sound of music floating over the dive park before I descended and upon resurfacing! Daytime diving is fine too... more music to enjoy!

One bonus is that the Express runs a late night boat back during the Jazz Fest. I think it boards around 11pm. So, you can actually hang out and get a night dive in without having to pay for a hotel. Just remember that the air truck closes at 4pm so you have a long surface interval between that last air fill and darkness. You could always relax and get some dinner.
