I am down in PDC 2-3 times a year and always like to get a few days diving in Cozumel (and eating). What I have done is take the ferry across after a day of cenote diving, stay over night in Cozumel for a couple of nights and get a couple of days of reef diving in before heading back on the ferry on the afternoon after diving (and lunch!).

I am thinking about being lazier and just using one of the PCD based ops that run a direct boat to Cozumel (I know of Tank-Ha and Blue life.) Blue life is an easy walk from the condo and it would save me a bunch of packing and moving to just dive from PDC They are upcharging a fair bit for the extra distance ($200 / 2 tanks) but the ferry costs me $30 round trip and accommodations etc. It would add about 35-45 minutes each way of water time and I would also miss out on the great Cozumel restaurants.

There are lots of great dive ops on Cozumel. Does anyone have any experience with either Tank-Ha or Blue life and their direct boats?

Cheers!

we have used tankha many times to dive but have never gone over to coz that way. but i can certainly recommend the shop.
i have also used bluelife for training in the past but i believe it may be under different ownership than when i used them. not 100% sure. but they were great to work with back then.
is blue life still in coco beach area?
if you are staying near there, that sounds like the easiest way to do it.

One thing to consider is that when the wind is from the east or southeast as it is a lot of the time, the crossing from PdC to Cozumel can be at best uncomfortable in a small boat.

the ferry aint much fun when rough either lol

You could always have Tank Ha leave you on Cozumel after your done diving so you can do a little exploring. Take the last ferry back to PDC at 10pm.
Thank you folks!

This sounds like a great hack to get the best of both worlds so I can get to some of my favorite CZ restaurants. I will check it out on my next trip.

Cheers
