Does anyone have any experience diving Barton Springs in Austin? :blackbat: I've heard that you can't dive the pool, but how about down stream toward Town Lake?

I'm fairly certain that you are not allowed to dive in Town Lake either. Super-special permission was needed to allow a 2K open water swimming race down Town Lake. I think they only want boats out there. This is all just an educated guess.

Has anyone poached a dive in town lake? Seems like you could do it if you entered way upstream from the MOPAC bridge. If so, was it worth it?

I remember doing several things at Barton Springs back when I was at UT in the 60's.... diving????... well... no.

Probably doesn't like to admit it since he is living in Crimson Tide country. :wink:

Good grief, that's been nearly 40 years ago. It's about time the Tide fans got over the Orange Bowl loss! And, no, Broadway Joe did NOT get over the goal line... :winky:

:rofl:

Hi again,

So, I did some research and here's what the MAN says about diving Barton Springs:

§ 8-5-49 SWIMMING IN BARTON CREEK.
A person may not swim in Barton Creek between Town Lake and Barton Springs
Pool or between the western dam of Barton Springs Pool and a point 100 yards west of
the dam. This prohibition does not apply to a person:
(1) performing an official duty as an officer or employee of the city;
(2) attempting to rescue or recover another person; or
(3) performing dredging or construction work authorized by the city council.
Source: 1992 Code Section 14-1-9.

Oh well, maybe I'll have to sit on the bank waiting to "rescue" somebody...
