I am also considering DM/instructor cert in order to earn money while sailing the world. My question is once you have DM/instructor cert how easy is it getting temporary jobs (a few weeks to a few months) at a time? How easy is it to set up jobs apon arrivial at place like Caribbean islands? I'm not looking for security or big salary. I just need marketable skills to earn a few bucks while in port.

Can anyone make useful suggestions for career advice, I hope to make a career in both diving and watersports. Any suggested higher education courses would be welcome, either at a university or technical training establishment.

I am considering aiming for the following qualifications by the time I am 21.
What additional courses or areas of study would be useful in making a career in that metier?

I am in the PADI system and aiming for OWSI
Also hope to be a CMAS 2# Instructor.
I intend to do a BEP Maritime Mecanicien (Equivalent to Two year 6th form/high school course in Maritime skills specialising in marine engines)
I am in the RYA training scheme and aiming for RYA Yachtmaster as well as Powerboat and dinghy instructor.
I speak English and French as first languages and am studying Spanish.
I can cook a bit and intend to work in catering on a casual basis when I can to gain experience.

Thanks Drew52 I found your post very helpful.

I know I will never make a fortune but I would really like a career not just a job, and in doing something I love and I really want to travel.

How best do I prepare for such a vocation?

wannabpro.
