so does anyone dive aound the coast from pigeon cove out there in rockport/ gloucester
we went there yesterday around the coast, where the dissused granite quarry is, i wondered if that might not be a half decent place, with all the granite and bolders there the viz might well be OK, the water there looked pretty clear, actually the flodded quarry it's self, i know it says no swimming there, it doesn't mention diving
has anyone been there and tried it out, the ocean or the quarry

I suppose you're talking about Halibut Point and the state park there. You aren't really supposed to dive in the quarry. If you get caught, you can try pleading ignorance.. I don't think the "Oh, I thought diving ok but not swimming" argument would hurt. Yes, there is diving off the rocks there it's a long haul with gear. you're better off diving Folly to west. I know some people have started at Halibut point and dove west ending up at Folly. Logistically, a pain but something would like to do someday.
