Gone for knee 'athroscopic' operation two months ago.Doc suggest swimming is a good exercise for my knee but don't know if diving is good.(Still have some pain when I lock my knee, but it'll not getting better in the future)
If I go for diving, will I have higher chances to get 'micro bubles' in my knee?Heard somebody said that if we have join pain,it will become worse if we continue to dive due to the accumulate of 'micro bubles'.Or will it do any harm to it?

Full ACL replacement. No problems.

Took me a while to work up to my doubles though.

Husband has had 4 various knee operations with no problems from diving.
Good luck.

Hi Peter,

I had ACL reconstructed about 2 weeks ago. Kinda curious though when can i return to diving which i miss quite much. Well the doc said initially after the allograft has healed. Is 4 months sufficient enough. The question for you is how long did you take before return to this sport?

I've had 4 surgeries on my right knee and the only long-standing problem I've run into is fins. I can't use a blade that's too long or stiff without a LOT of post dive discomfort. That said, I know nothing about micro bubbles so I'm not much help afterall.

I had total knee replacement several years ago. I was diving again after 6 weeks and had no problems then and none since. My orthopedic surgeon is a diver and feels that you can dive after joint replacements as soon as incision is healed and strength is back. I always make sure my safety stops are 5 minutes or better.

I had my right knee scoped on April 1. ( had 2 scopes and an ACL on my left and this is the second scope on my right) I started diving again once I could climb stairs without pain. about 6 weeks after the scope. I'm still a bit tender when I'm climbing back on a boat but nothing big. I really have not done any real deep dives( 60+ feet) yet so I'm not sure of the Micro-bubble issue you mentioned. I can't imagine why a surgically repaired site would be more prone to micro-bubbles. Maybe due to swelling???

One thing though. When you start diving again, you will favor that knee. Be careful, you could damage the good knee and injure you back and neck. Take your time and don’t rush. Shore dives on a slippery entry can be a killer.

Got an answer from DR.Deco.Confirm that there is nothing to do with 'micro buble'.(see Micro Buble under Ask Dr.Decompression.)Thanks all of you for the information.
