Divers Alert Network is looking for a few good dive professionals and you can help! As part of the organizations Members Choice Awards, you are being asked to nominate worthy individuals for the prestigious honor.
According to DAN officials, the award recognizes both a diving operation and dive leader that the community feels demonstrates the highest level of dedication to establishing a culture of dive safety.
Dedication to safe diving practices is a key element in accident prevention. Being prepared to manage dive incidents helps improve outcomes and creates a safer environment for divers, said Bill Ziefle, DAN President and CEO. We started the Members Choice Award program last year as a way for the diving community to help us in recognizing these deserving individuals, who play a critical role in our mission to enhance diver safety.
The 2013 recipients will be honored at the DAN event November 6, 2013 during the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association (DEMA) Show in Orlando, Florida.
The inaugural 2012 recipients were publicly nominated by the diving community. The nominees were celebrated for an array of safe practices including risk assessments, establishing and rehearsing emergency action plans, health and safety audits, teaching DAN first aid training courses, having essential first aid on hand, and conducting thorough predive safety checks, briefings and debriefings.
Nominations for the award are being accepted online now through September 15. For more information about DAN at DEMA, visit DAN.org/DEMA.
