UK SL4 is commonly used for this purpose and it is declared as 6V bulb but I wouldn't rely on this for backup purposes.

Because of the safe margin. If it's backup light than it's better to be reliable then to be bright.

BTW I think I made a mistake. If I remember well UK SL4 is 5.1 V rated.
 
Use the DiveRite for a back-up and it has proven very reliable and bright with over a 4hr burn time. Would not be a bad choice at all. Its also smaller than the 3c cell versions so easier to fit on the harness if you are small.
