My girlfriend Jill is starting her OW class tonight, and she was asking if I'd be interested in learning ASL with her so we'd be able to talk underwater.

If I'm going to bother learning an extensive hand signal vocabulary beyond the basics that every diver should know, that seems to me like a good way to go.

I know ASL, it can be handy but it's hard to do with gloves on, guess it depends on where you live/dive.
