ISLAMORADA, FL (AP) -- The medical examiner in Monroe County is conducting an autopsy on a scuba diver found floating.

Police say 72-year-old <name removed> of Jacksonville was scuba diving with friends and family in about 20 feet of water near Alligator Reef, but he never surfaced.

His body was found floating face down by boaters in the area.

A police report says <name removed>'s dive tank was empty and his weight belt was missing, which likely means he experience an emergency under water.

According to authorities, the diver had 20 years of diving experience.

Regards,

According to the "special rules" for this forum (sitcky thread at at the top of the forum) "the only name you may use is your own".

My apologies to all offended, I obviously misunderstood the rules too. Thank you to the helpful moderator for mending my ways.

My condolences to friends, family, and buddies of the deceased.
