I overheard at the dive shop that a diver died at Breakwater last Saturday, 7/24. Does anyone have any more info? That's very unfortunate, losing one of our own in our own backyard. My condolences go out to his/her family.

i heard he was an older gentleman and had had a heart attack underwater during a night dive. i have no way of confirming this though.

Hi all, I'm new here. I did my openwater over the weekend at BreakWater. I heard that the diver who passed away had a heart attack after the dive, but while still in the water (on the surface). My understanding was that he was and older gentleman.

There are a few topic titles you never want to see in these forums, and I can guarantee that this is pretty much the top of the list. I was at Breakwater during both days last weekend, but was not there at night. My condolences go out to any of his family or friends or class who may read this, and my thanks and admiration go out to any and all divers who rushed to help the man. While this is an undeniable tragedy, it highlights why Breakwater is such a popular place for classes - at a moment's notice, complete strangers come together to help.
Here's to diving safe everyone, I'm proud to be a part of this community.
