Anyone know of a divecentre that trains for free in exchange for work??
The dive master course is incredible value for money. Even if you only do the minimum hours and dives required to pass the course, the instruction, air, and support usually cost way in excess of the fees you pay for your training.
It is a professional qualification that will enable you to earn money around the world.
If dive schools were to use trainees to fill the role of real dive masters then commercial sense says they would not need to hire and pay qualified staff. Then where would the jobs be for you after you qualified?
Becoming a dive master is not only about learning diving physics and how to help a diver under your charge. It also involves learning a lot about the diving industry, which like any other, needs income.
Right up front you are saying you want the dive industry to support you for free. When you learn the incredible overheads and how low the profit margins most schools work under, you will think again about the effects of penny pinching.
It may take you a little longer to save up the dollars to do it, but time is never wasted. Start buying the books and reading them when you can afford it. Observe the dive masters and instructors when ever you dive and learn as much as you can from them. Read, injest, think. You will start your course well prepared and able to make the best out of it.
I wish you the best of luck with your dive master courses. It is a life changing course and one well worth working and waiting for.
