Hello everybody.
I bought a divecomputer.eu unit a year ago. This thing had several bugs/problems as it has been reported several times. A lot of people had serious hardware problems (cracked screens etc) - search in other threads in here to get an idea. In my case fortunately I have only encountered software glitches like: no way to display gas related events (gas used, gas changes etc) after the dive, compass is practically rubbish, SS counter doesn't show in about half of the dives, first temperature sample on all dives is reported in subsurface as 0oC etc. Most importantly it is their zero (or better below zero) customer care. Support tickets never dealt with or very slow replies, units sent in for service and never send back to the users etc. I have seen in facebook groups people even take legal action against them.
In my case I was quite fortunate and patient. My unit is still working (with all these mentioned glitches) - I have about 150 hours/75 dives with it. I kept using it and patiently waiting for the latest update (announced as a new year resolution in their facebook account!). BTW they say in their web site that every unit gets 2 years free update support.
The latest update came out few days ago. I was so excited. But the more I read about it the more I became suspicious. From their web site ( Firmware upgrade | Divecomputer.eu - multifunctional dive computer )
"Final version 2020 - NXP
Important! This version of the firmware is dedicated to the latest mainboard hardware signed as NXP version. This version closes future development of the divecomputer.eu device. After long test we can’t find any software bugs and also hardware is simplified to the maximum. Previous versions of divecomputer.eu can be upgraded to this mainboard with NXP software only in the factory."
and further down:
"From October 2020 any updates of the divecomputer.eu will be made only at the factory service. If you have divecomputer.eu device dated before NXP version and the device is in 2 years free upgrades period please contact service at help.divecomputer.eu "
I contacted them to ask instructions on how to proceed with it and here is their reply (copy paste from their email):
"Dear Emmanouil
Version NXP need change the mainboard. Cost of upgrade to NXP revision is about 100 EUR.
Any upgrade we make only in service in Poland.
Free update is valid for 2 years from the time of purchase for hardware which You buy. Does not include motherboard replacement
Best regards"
Not only they sold this piece of crap, not only they promised free support for 2 years, not only they have such crappy support, but now that the latest update is out they ask us to pay extra 100 euros!!!
No f*cking way I am going to give them another cent.
Until now despite all the problems mentioned above I kept a neutral stance against them - after all they seem to be a new company and they seemed to deserve some more time.
But now this is too much.
Beware people!! Stay away from this plague as much as possible.
