Dear all,
we are planning our first family vacation with our baby daughter next year March. By then she will be 15 months. We are looking for recommendations for a nice low key resort somewhere in Florida or the caribbean where our daugther will be taken care of while Mom and Dad occasionally can dive together. But it should be a place where it's not all about the diving but that also offers other things that we can do together as a family.

Any suggestions ? Please feel free to also contact me at maweberscuba@yahoo.com
Thx
Martin

I'm interested to see what kind of suggestions you get -- I'll be in the same boat before too long (Unless I can drop the kid and my wife at Grandma's!)

most couples with young children i have seen on vacation take turns diving while one stays with the baby

unfortunately, there's not much in the way of reliable infant care out there ... you can always take grandma along ( a variation on jasoncrawford's theme)

I have seen excellent infant care availble on most any island, there are many by-the-day "grandmas" available in the Bahamas and Caribbean. The real concern arises when you factor in reliable medical assistance in that unlikely event. You are limited to Cayman and Nassau at that point.

So what is required on an island to do as a family that includes Mom, Dad and a 15 month old? Afternoon naps? I'm all over that.

Maybe a particular resort that comes to your mind ? Not too big but family/infant friendly ?

lol
you do have low standards:D

Nah, not really. The loving hand of a grandma is pretty universal. It's the island infrastucture of environment as well as safety and standards that would set me to a-squirming.

Kilgore, Charlie, surf... man that just cracks me up whenever I see it. Anyone else get it?

You might want to check out a Sandles or Club Med resort... I have heard of at least 2 that provide infant care, although most have a minimum age.

Absolutely no way I'm leaving my child with someone on an island far from home. I'm just not that trusting. Take someone with you.
