I just don't log dives
Seems like the over 65 divers are overrepresented in these dive fatalities. I don't have a problem with living life to the fullest till the end, but there might come a time when you need to hang your fins up. It's not just the elderly person who is taking the risk, it's the divers that try to help rescue, or recover the victim that also take the risk. It might also ruin someone else's dive vacation. Just say'n...

I think that low IQ people should also think about hanging their fins up. Stupidity is a major factor in many dive accidents.

Should a 75 year old be climbing Mt Everest? Should they be hired as a body guard? Should they be boxing or doing MMA? Should they be president? Maybe yes in very rare cases, but in general, no. Aging is a hard reality to face but there comes a time when you might not want to continue doing some things. How many accident threads do we see where the victim is elderly?

To all involved, I’ll be 75 when I dive next, I’ll let you know if I survive.

Generalization regarding age ignores so many additional factors that those who make them diminishes their credibility.

Indeed, I've seen more unfit younger people in their twenties and thirties that shouldn't be diving.

I think ScubaBoard is not a forum where this idea will get much traction. Have a look at the ages of over a thousand members that participated in this poll:

How old are you and how long certified?

One of my many favorite posts in that thread is #491:
I don't know who voted 90 and over, but that is who I want to be when I grow up.

People die every day. often times they are elderly. often times they do so publicly.

How many auto crashes are caused by an elderly person having a cardiac event or stroke while driving? This endangers all rescue personnel involved in the response, as well as all the other parties envolved and on the street at the same time, yet we don’t have a blanket you can’t drive after 65 years old policy.

If you want to take your risk of being on a trip in which a diver has an emergency to zero, don’t go on any trips with anyone.

It is a fact that simply cannot be ignored.

All divers over the age of 70 will die.

Same for all cave divers.
