I'm a Fish!
What is a good program for my PC to get started before I get a dive computer - I plan on next year getting a Sunnto and merging the data with its program? Is there anything that I can use in the mean time and enter manually until I get my computer and then upload all previous dives to their software? I hope that makes sense ..

Thanks in advance!:D

Huh?

If you mean like dive planning and cutting tables, the favorite is V-Planner. It doesn't merge with Sunnto programming, dunno anything that does...

Are you talking about an online dive log?

I was trying to get away from the little book because i am not using tables any more. What dive computers have you heard that is good? D9? Aladin Pro?

Oceanic has a dive log program on it's website that you can download for free. It allows manual entry of dive data, and can be exported to a txt file for importing into another similar program that allows such.

I'm partial to Oceanic computers. Not too conservative, not to liberal. Some even let you build in a safety margin if you want to dive more conservatively (never a bad idea).

I have an old Prodigy that I use as a loaner/backup that's older than me, and does a good job (air only though). I have a VersaPro I use as my primary air/nitrox computer. It has been flawless. Finally, I have a Geo I use as my secondary air/nitrox computer. I've had battery issues with the Geo, but Oceanic sent me a brand new one to replace the unit with a problem.

If you go Oceanic, be sure to purchase from an authorized dealer. Oceanic customer service is 5-star, but only if you buy it through a dealer.

Thanks for the replies - Sounds good - keep it coming :)
I noticed in one thread a computer didn't have a back light - that's one thing I need on it. I'm not sure I trust the wireless transmitters though ...

Diving Log 4.0 is a great program. I am using it now exclusively instead of the programs that come with the manufacturers computers. It looks to me like DL4.0 works for direct uploading Suunto computers as well instead of having to xfer from the manufactuers program.

Here is a link: You can try the demo with a limited # of logs, check out the statisics portion, the extras, and export feature.....Wow!!!

I have used Dive Log for the last 3 years and would highly recommend it. If you get an Oceanic computer you can import the data in to the program. It will graph your dives, track SAC rate, etc. The guy who developed it is in Germany, but I have over the years emailed questions and he always responds immediately. He also provides free updates to the program at least once a year. Two thumbs up for Dive Log!:lotsalove::lotsalove:

I have the Aeris Wireless transmitter....have used it for three years and NEVER had a sync problem. If the transmitter goes out, the only data not available on your computer is tank pressure. I have a small SPG so that IF this ever happens, I have redundancy. I also use the SPG to make sure my pressures agree before each dive, and usually do another check after I am at depth. It is okay not to "trust" them...I don't trust most of my dive gear...that is why I have redundancy....but I still use it.

My latest logging software :) I'm not diving off tables either, though I use them as backups to my computer.

Sven is the developer and support and I have to agree that he does an awesome job responding to all questions and concerns in a timely manner.

I love this software as well!
