Hi,
This community is really great to evaluate places to go but I was wondering, is there any website/app you use to find out how people rate a particular dive site?
I know there are many variables to consider, but where do you go (online) to find if a place is worth a visit or not?

Thanks
Igor

Depends on the site. If it's a boat trip, land-based (e.g.: Florida Keys) or live-aboard, schedules are tentative and we're probably going where the site isn't too busy and the Captain thinks we'll have good conditions & a good dive.

If it's a shore dive, in a place where there are a variety to choose from (e.g.: Bonaire), trip reports on Scuba Board are a good source, and there's a shore diving guide back for Bonaire which is also helpful.

People value different things about a dive site. A 'star rating' is of limited use. A shore dive in Southern California is probably judged differently from one in Bonaire, in other words.

I think the main question is whether a destination is worth a visit (e.g.: St. Croix is one I've considered off and on for later); once a destination is settled on, then it's time to read up on specific sites (e.g.: I dove the shallow Butler Bay Wrecks by boat on a cruise stop; I read that as a shore dive that'd be quite a long swim out). Or consider the threads where people discuss the shore diving options in Grand Cayman.

Richard.
