Is there anybody here who's familiar with creating 3D maps? I've seen some very nice dive sites done in 3D. Would love to learn!

WE ARE !!!

Just get us the datasets and we will create the 3D maps AND VIRTUAL SITES too.

See example (map and video) here :D

BTW, does anyone who this site called wannadive.net is. If you fire up google earth 5.0, their dive site locations show up under the "Ocean" tab. Seems they are related to wannasurf.net, wannakitesurf.net, and chip's favorite wannaxxxx.net. I'll have to read thru the disclosure for that site, but would be a nice way to make a lot of these PI dive sites public. Pete should look into working up something similiar for ways for SB members to input dive sites on SB so that they show up on Google Earth.

AM, that 3D map is pretty cool.

Pakman,
thank you .... but ... that 3D map is nothing .... did you realize that with our free dive simulator you can actually see the map from the "inside"? Basically you can dive the map like a real diver.

First you look-up the position of the dive site in the world then you click on the simulator symbol (of course you have to first install the simulator on your computer) and .... voila' you find yourself at the surface ready to dive the site.

Which dive site should we build in the Philippine first?

Monad Shoal, Malapascua

I agree with Penn, that area around Canyons, Hole in the Wall, Shark Cave would be a good start.

Monad Shoal, while it would be interesting see in 3D, is just essentially a flat sea mount at 23m or so...

I will be in Palawan, Philippines this November. Will try to back read and learn more about the place.
