Depths to 1000 feet? Yikes, I hope you just did an extra zero! LOL! Anyway, thanks again for the info. I'm looking into the leads I've got so far on dive opportunities out of the Gulf area or Pensacola...I am determined to blow some bubbles while I'm down there. I'll report back what turns up.

No error, some of the rigs are in over 1000 feet. Needless to say good bouyancy control and depth awareness are very important. Not a place for noobies. Shell oil's Congnac rig is in 1025 feet.

Okay, now I get the 1000 ft depth thing. Sorry, I was a little slow on the uptake on that one. :D

We do have oil rigs out here, and a number of local boats go out to them. I haven't been to them yet, although I'm sure I will at some point.

I'll pass on diving in the lake . Right now I'm trying to figure out which day I can swing this dive, and then I'll start sending emails and making phone calls to get something lined up.

This has been a very informative thread, and I thank all of you for the great info! Once I figure out my schedule I'll let y'all know what I end up doing.
