Hi Guys,

Wanted to pass this along, but know that it doesn't effect anyone but me.

Divers Berth Dive Shop in Bay City, MI on Delta Road, appears to be GONE.

Went by there today to have a tank filled and chat with Matt and found the signs gone, and the building dark. No one answers the phone number that I had for the site, all the window stickers and such are missing from the entry door. Nothing....

I've sent out a couple of messages to local divers to try and find out if they are closed, or have simply moved, and will post a follow up when I find out.

I did a search of my internet sources and would not suspect anything except that the dive club that works primarily with Diver's Berth has a leadership issue right now. The former President of the Saginaw Underwater Explorers got a job in Orlando this summer and is in sunny FL. I haven't heard who took his place. There is one post on there message board since Mike had to step down and the website hasn't been updated in some time.

If we have any members of the SUE on this board, I would appreciate a PM or posting something in this thread.

As to the shop itself, I didn't see any mention of the shop moving on the webpage. I plan to look into things further before I state on a board this large that it looks like Matt is closeed for business though. I wouldn't want to be responsible for doing damage to his business if he has simply moved.

I NEVER said he was CLOSED. I said he was GONE! I'm hoping he found a better corner in Bay City somewhere and I didn't see the sign directing me to the new site. ;)

I hear you. I always hate to see it when the divers lose options. I also believe that some of the brands that Matt carries, may not be serviceable at some of the other shops? Let's cross our fingers.

Got this note today from Mike Peterson who is the past president of the Saginaw Underwater Explorers dive club, which was closely tied to the dive shop in Bay City...

"I talked to Matt today and I found out what is going on. He closed down to regroup. His business has kind of hit that spot where he couldn't grow anymore without getting the rest of his training done. It was hard for him to get it all done and run the shop on his own so he will probably reopen in the spring. Business is slow all over in the winter and picks up in the spring as I am sure that you understand."

So the mystery is solved and the shop will probably reopen in the spring some time. Mean while, I need to find somewhere to get my tanks filled......
