Was wondering if there is an in-house dive shop at the Fiesta Americana or if there are any dive shops nearby - ideally within walking distance or a cshort cab ride? Thanks for any info.

Curious why you are asking for one within walking or short cab ride? Pretty much every op on the island will pick up and drop off there as well as schlep all your gears except wet suit......FA is one of the best locations to dive out of IMO since it is just south of the port. Wish they would come down in price so I would try it out lol.

Thinking of taking some courses (wife and I) and I believe you usually need to do at least the first day of the course from the shop. In the past in other places such as Curacao we were right next door to the dive shop and it was convenient to fill out forms, get fitted for gear, make arrangements etc.

The Fiesta Americana is pretty far south with not a whole lot close to it. If there is a resident dive op there it's most likely that's the only one in any sort of reasonable walking distance.

Hi Smartcar. We stayed at the FA last year. We were advised the dive shop was being finished, but never got the notice that it was open. We used Aldora for the week, and I could not have been more satisfied with them. I also know that Aldora runs cert courses, so check their website. I am certain they would work out a plan for you. FA is a fantastic place to stay (if AIs are your thing), and Aldora is a fantastic dive op. Have fun!

I think they have someone setup to be their in-house dive op, but I can't remember who. They may not actually have a "shop" there. Dive House isn't it any more.

There isn't anyone real close, but any dive op will pick you up. Dive With Martin is at the south cruise ship pier, which isn't crazy long distance from FA.
