Hello all,

I am a recently graduated rescue certified diver who would like to get into resort instruction/environmental education diving. I know I am going to need to get my DM (and even instructor level?) for many of these jobs.

I am particularly interested in the working in the Caribbean and am looking at dive schools in the area so I can expand my regional experence while getting my certification. Does anyone have any recommendations/experiences with Caribbean dive schools? Random searching on the internet leads you to some pretty sketchy places, after all  And I have heard so many dive college horror stories...

So! If anyone has any general advice on Caribbean dive schools or career advice in general, I am here with open ears. Thanks!

Check this out, cool location.

Profile of Career College/Trade School
Canada Dive College is situated along the Sunshine Coast in the city of Sechelt in British Columbia. It is a private career college accredited by the Private Career Training Institution Association (PCTIA), that offers specialized training in the field of diving. The college is the only resort based Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) 5 Star Instructor Development Center in Canada that also has a National Geographic Dive Center distinction.

Canada Dive College offers a full range of diving programs by PADI, Scuba Diving International and Technical Diving Instruction. These courses are conducted in the British Columbia waters in the Pacific Ocean, which has been rated the Number One dive destination in Canada by Rodale's magazine.

The waterways, temperate rainforests, mountains, wildlife and beaches in the area make the experience of learning to dive or training to become a diving instructor a pleasurable experience. The staff consists of the only Trimix Instructor Trainers in the country. Courses range from the one-day Discover Scuba Diving course to the Advanced Divers course, Deep Sea divers program and the Dolphin Rebreather course.

Student loans are available to students who are admitted to professional level training courses at Canada Dive College. Most people who complete a diving course at the college use the training for recreational diving. Students studying for professional certifications are usually employed as diving instructors, rescue divers, environmentalists and television crew divers.
