Anyone interested in diving on 7/3? High tide is mid-day, winds expected from the west/ southwest on friday, north/ northwest on saturday, sounds like a good day at Halibut Point/ Hoop Pole/ Cathedral Rocks or anything south of there through Bass Rocks? Meeting at 9:30-10:00am would work for me.

Sounds good to me. I've only been up there once (1 dive at Cathedral Rocks and 1 night dive at some beach around the corner) and I'd like to go back.

If I can't find some people in the RI by tommorow to go diving over the weekend, I'd love to go.

I'm meeting a buddy at the Cape Ann Divers shop (www.capeanndivers.com) at 9:00am on Saturday. We'll probably be doing either Hoop Pole Cove or Folly Cove. Let me know if you can't scare up a dive in Rogue's Island.

Mind if I tag along? I ended up making arrangements to dive on Sunday, but tommorow is still free. Let me know if you're still going and I'll PM you my cell number so we have some point of contact in case anything comes up.

I still rent my tanks so were you planning on one or two dives?

-------------

I ended up just grabbing two tanks today so I have them. I hope to hear back from you tonight just to confirm everything but if not I'll see you at Cape Ann Divers at 9am tommorow morning.

I will also be up that way tomorrow (with a group) My 1st time there. I'm not sure what the itinerary is though. We will be there (and diving) until Monday

Still meeting at 9:00am, Cape Ann Divers parking lot. I drive a black '04 Toyota 4 Runner. Looking over latest weather forecast, looks like wind is going to be more northerly than expected, we might end up on the southern side of Cape Ann as a result. I figure we can ask the shop for guidance. Will PM my cell #.

i would check the dive site out personally......once they suggested not to go to Folly b/c of high winds etc...but it was flat as a pancake when we went... :eyebrow:

they just follow the forecast but as you know, the weatherman is almost never right

OK, I'll be in a silver '02 Dodge Ram 1500.

with a 5-10 kt wind, I wouldn't be concerned with it. However there are plenty of alternate sites on the south side of the cape ann. I think CAD has a decent map of the shore sites.

My 1st time out to Cape Anne was very enjoyable. The weather and the diving were great! Dove Back Beach and Old Garden beach in Rockport. Also dove Folly Cove in Gloucester. Temps were in the mid 50's, vis was good ( 30+ ), and the water was calm. I took some pics with a disposable camera, if they come out good I will post them. Saw lots of crabs, flounder, skates, lobsters, snails, etc. Also saw what we thought was a small eel. Later found out it was a Rock Gunnel. We were going to do a night dive at Pebble beach Sunday night, but the water was rough with the incoming rain and we had a new diver with us.(A little too much deja-vu for us) so we decided against it.
Also took in all the quant New England shops and enjoyed the fresh seafood. I hope to get back there soon:)
