Hello all,

In the market for a new singles wing. I've narrowed it down to the Dive Rite Travel and Hog 23lb. I'm replacing an Apeks 30lb wing because I don't like the long/ narrow wings and would prefer something that is shorter. Dimensions of these two wings are similar and lift is similar, but just wanted some insight on how they stack up in terms of quality. I've used dive rite before and have had no issues, but the hog is quite a bit cheaper. Does the quality suffer at this lower cost?

Personally, I wouldn't choose either. The Dive Rite wing requires a single tank adapter. The HOG wing has an integrated soft side single tank holder but the bungee cords on the wing are an entanglement hazard. I would look at the OMS Mono wing, it comes with a 27 or 32 lift, it has built in stabilizing bars and no bungee's. OMS Performance Mono Wing
Between the 2 wings you mentioned, I would go with the Dive Rite and get a STA.
I dive a sub Gravity 26lb wing.

OMS is good, but the HOG 23 doesn't have external bungees. Their 32lb wing does so maybe that's why you thought so.

The HOG 23lb does not have bungees as other poster mentioned. Not opposed to the OMS, but it looks to be physically taller than either of the ones I posted about and I'm looking specifically for shorter and wider.

Have you any experience with the HOG 23? How is the quality?

Sorry, I miss read your post, I thought it said a HOG 32lb wing.

Sorry, no direct experience. I had the good fortune to get enough VDH wings to outfit my family.

You mentioned above to go with the DR + STA... Have you noticed any quality differences between the two?
I had a Dive Rite BP and Rec wing for quite a while before I got my Sub Gravity BP/W. Dive Rite makes good quality equipment and have been around for a long time. I don't have any experience with HOG though.
