Sounds like I should pick up an SS Plate and a wing. I wish I had a good tech shop in NYC... I don't like buying stuff at Leisure Pro, and my shop, Empire Divers, doesn't really carry tech gear (besides Apeks)...

Ok, I see a local (3 blocks away) shop - perfect! Thanks for the help.

Try Phil at ScubaUSA he is NJ about 10 min's from the George Washington Bridge. Number is 877 - ScubaUSA.

He doesn't have diverite i dont' think but he sells DeepOutdoors, that has everything you might imagine for your needs. Its priced about the same as DR adn OMS and i, personally, find it a bit better quality and better thought out and designed..

Some insider info its manufactured by the same company anyway ;)

I used the transpac II when I took my adv. nitrox & rec trimix. It works well, and can be used for lightweight doubles. I didn't care at all for the RecWing I had on it.

That said, I switched to a BP/W so I could get the most out of a DIR-F class I signed up for, and although I didn't choose to embrace the DIR system, I did find that I greatly preferred the backplate and Hog harness. The Transpac found it's way to eBay.

When you say light doubles, are we talking Steel 80s or 65s?

I dove with some 20 year vet commercial divers a few weeks a go and they like floating arm chairs because the transpac and all the bp/w seam to float you face down and waiting on the surface is a pain in the neck. they ragged on me for buying into the tech fad and offered this moral of the story ,there is no system that is right for everyone, dive with one before you buy it. if your interested in dive rite http://www.diveriteexpress.com/
