Captain Nimrod:I to pndered this questions (just ordered a TransPac) as I was told by many that unless you are diving with two tanks, there is really no advange to the Plate while the Pac is spposedly more comfortable and just as adaptable.
I guess I'll let everyone know once I get it and get it set up.
Can anyone offer helpful hints in setting the rig up? I will be in mostly warm salty water, single aluminum 80 and some neg-buoyant gear.
Quarrior:I have the Transplate myself. However, were I to get another BP, I'd go for a standard plate and standard harness.
The problem with the harness on the Transplate is there is limited options for D ring placement on the shoulder straps. Also, the adjustment on the shoulder straps is limited at well.
The padding on the shoulder straps is a waste unless you're diving without a protective suit.
The only advantage I can see after using it for over 100 dives is the quick releases and those really aren't that big of a deal to me.
