As far as reef diving could you use it? The answer is Yes. Most divers that I come in contact with are usually asking "How can I work more Efficiently and get more Control in the water? When you break in down, regardless of Reef/Wreck, hand-held lights take up hand space and because of that are not as ideal as having the option of being Hands-free. Look at all the light manufacturers that are now offering some kind of hand sock or elastic/Velcro strap for a light to attach to. If you really want that DR light then go with it. I believe that the Light Monkey Goodman Handle works with that light:

In the end you have to do what works well for you. I know for me, my Primary Light is a Hands-free option.
