After a lot research, these seem to have the features and price range I want. Seems to be a lot of happy Suunto users...but I haven't read too much about the Dive rite--but it's been almost all positive. I like the freediving feature of the mosquito-- but the gauge function of the Vyper & Nitek seem to make these very usefull as well. The Nitek in particular seems to have a lot of features per price.

I'm a new diver looking for some gear that's going to be with me for the long haul. Thanks for any and all advice.

If it's between the Vyper and the Plus, I'd get the Vyper just because the Plus is too freaking small for my taste. I like big numbers and big buttons.

Now if a Nitek Duo is an option (same features as the Plus but in a hockey puck form factor) I'd take it over the Vyper.
